Fund Distribution

With your financial help we are able to provide funding to support various local programs and services throughout the City of Kawartha Lakes. People contribute to the United Way because they know that one gift will go a long way.

Funded Agencies & Services

The 44 programs supported by United Way funding which are divided into four main funding categories:

Youth, Families, and Seniors
Safe & Health Communities
Counselling & Education
Rural Outreach Programs

Decisions about fund distribution are made following a process of allocation applications from the funded agencies. The board of the United Way is charged with the responsibility of putting the money to use where it is needed the most. Decisions are based upon criteria developed by the United Way to help measure the impact of programs and the need for funding.

Local non-profit organizations apply for funding for the upcoming fiscal year on an annual basis. Agencies must supply the United Way with their latest financial statements and a budget for the upcoming year, as well as a clear explanation of their intended use of United Way funds.
