Community Impact
United Way for the City of Kawartha Lakes funds 44 programs through 15 local non-profit organizations (funded agencies) on an annual basis. The programs provided by these agencies collectively assist approximately 24,000 residents in the City of Kawartha Lakes each year.
We are committed to building safe, caring, and sustainable communities. Each fall, a group of dedicated volunteers (Campaign Cabinet) devote their time and effort to help raise funds to support the vital programs provided by our funded agencies. Upon completion of the campaign, a "Citizen Review Panel" is convened, which consists of local members of the community. They review and assess the needs of the community and priorities of United Way in order to make decisions regarding the distribution of funds to the agencies. This investment of your financial support assures that the programs will be available from the agencies throughout the year.

COMMUNITY MATTERS
What is Community Matters?
Community Matters is a program which involved 17 of the smallest United Ways in Ontario funded by the Ontario Trillium Foundation.
United Way asked these four simple questions which allowed United Way for the City of Kawartha Lakes to enhance the impact of its funding and to build healthier, stronger communities:
1. What works well in your community?
2. What challenges does your community face?
3. What factors led to these challenges
4. Do you have any solutions?
We came to a community near you!
Community Matters Discussion Groups have already taken place in Bethany, Bobcaygeon, Bolsover, Coboconk, Dalrymple, Fenelon Falls, Kinmount, Kirkfield, Lindsay, Little Britain, Omemee, Pontypool, and Woodville
